History & Origins
Ancient Iberian mastiff-type breed developed in the remote Trás-os-Montes region of northern Portugal, used for centuries by shepherds to guard flocks against wolves and other predators in harsh mountain conditions. Recognized by the FCI for its courage, loyalty, and ability to work independently.
